The Higher Ground Institute helps progressive organizations harness emerging technologies to create lasting change.

We launched HGI in 2025 in partnership with Higher Ground Labs to expand our reach and impact.

Our 2025 programs have included:

  • Convenings, salons, hackathons, fellowships, and simulations to re-imagine campaign design, build community, and prototype tools

  • Media Innovation through fellowships, structured experiments, and collaboration. 

  • Research and experimentation to seed new innovations and build an evidence base for practitioners to stay informed on the state of progressive technology

    • The 2024 Landscape Report is foundational tool to understand the state of political and progressive technology - both the tools that exist and trends in their usage and where the field is going

    • Our Progressive CRM Guide is a tool to help navigate the shifting landscape of relationship management tools

  • Building the progressive AI Lab to share use cases, discuss adoption, ethics, risk, and design so progressives can leverage AI in values-aligned ways

    • This work builds on the AI Open Mics we partnered with Analyst Institute and Research Collaborative on in 2024, and CIL’s AI Hackathons and Cohorts to move forward progressive AI adoption in ways that work for our movement and community
